If you do not meet the eligibility requirements to receive the Old-age Basic Pension by the age of 60, or if you cannot receive the full amount of Old-age Basic Pension due to less than 40 years of premium-paid period, and want to increase your pension amount, you can voluntarily participate in the National Pension even after the age of 60. (excluding those enrolled in Employees' Pension Insurance, Mutual Aid Association, etc.)
Overseas residents with Japanese nationality aged 20 and over but less than 65 can also voluntarily participate in the National Pension.
Due to the law amendments in May 2022, the following persons are eligible for individual-type DC (iDeCo).
(1) Company employees, public servants, etc. (Category II Insured Persons of the National Pension) who are aged 60 and over but less than 65
(2) Those who are aged 60 and over but less than 65 and voluntarily enrolled in the National Pension
(3) Overseas residents who are voluntarily enrolled in the National Pension
