I received benefits in a lump sum (one-time). Do I need to file a final tax return?

Answer

Income tax and residential tax are imposed as retirement income, and the taxation is completed only through withholding at source by submitting the specified declaration in the receipt procedure. (Taxes are calculated based on retirement income only, and no final tax return is required.)

A "Withholding Tax Certificate for Retirement Income" "退職所得の源泉徴収票" is sent by Sompo Japan DC Securities at the beginning of the month following the month in which the lump-sum payment is received.
